Historic Accuracy and Construction
Our historically accurate clothing is drafted from extant examples and period diagrams, with additional research from period images and engravings.
We’ll match common features of the day to your individual tastes, just as dressmakers and milliners of the past did for their patrons.
Our work has been accepted for juried vendor events. You’ll appreciate the attention to historic detail that goes into every garment.
Are you ready to buy immediately? We have some items in stock and ready to ship, some items for auction on ebay, as well as in our traveling event mercantile. For the most individual attention, choose our Custom Work option.
Most photos are samples of past works.
We sew for the period in technique for most of the work. You will find a lot of quality hand stitching goes into our garments for more accuracy.
We will sew for any era you desire.
Bodices are faced as originals would have been.
Buttonholes on men’s clothing are hand done as are lacing holes
for gowns.
The boning we use is steel boning for better support and
retention of desired shape.
Waistbands are generally encased for durability, but if requested, I will set waistband as originals were.
Hemming is usually left for the customer to have done when fitting the dress with underpinnings and shoes for a perfect fit, however, I will hem to supplied measurements.
Theatrical work does not meet historical standards unless requested. While we still don’t use zippers, Velcro, ect., there are some short cuts in details taken as requested to reduce costs. This would not be the case for Historical films, plays, or living history events. These would be very accurate in detail.
